About the Wines
This term’s wine campaign features four wines from a single winery located in Loreto Aprutino in the Abruzzo region along Italy’s Adriatic coast. Rodrigo and Antonella Redmont share a deep passion for wine and for the historic land of Abruzzo. Their estate is called iLauri, a name inspired by the ancient roots of their hometown, Loreto Aprutino, which was once covered in Laurus nobilis, or laurel trees. The area remains a hidden gem—beautiful yet not widely known or frequently visited. The landscape is stunning, with rolling hills, mountains, beaches, and even wheat fields shaping the region.
Their first vintage was produced in 2007. Since then, they have built a modern, state-of-the-art winery and continue to craft wines from grapes grown in the villages of Loreto Aprutino, Collecorvino, and Città Sant’Angelo. Marcia says, “having visited all three villages, I can confidently say that the beauty of the region is exceptional, and the wines produced there are truly outstanding.”
Notes from Marcia
I hope by now, everyone trusts my wine choices, even without tasting them! You will find the prices for these quality wines are simply unbeatable and whether you buy one or buy many, half the profits come back to AJN! All wines are under screwcap for ease of opening, serving and for maintaining freshness. Leftover wine should have the cap tightly secured and put in the fridge. Best to consume within three days.
Red and Rosé Selections
Bajo Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

The grapes come from estate fruit (which means on the same property where the winery is) and produce this fine example of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo every vintage.
The name Bajo (Bay) given to the town of Loreto Aprutino’s most important street comes from the hair color of some horses. Bay is one of the most common coat colors in many horse breeds. Select vineyards with stony and calcareous soil are carefully managed to produce this classic wine. This vibrant red from Abruzzo displays a violet color and an intense bouquet of ripe red fruit, finely framed with spices. This wine can be chilled for a bright, and fresh red wine, or served slightly warmer if preferred.
Food Pairings: lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs, salted cod, barbecued burgers or barbecued ribs with a tangy dipping sauce.

Chiola Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo

The Chiola family ruled over Loreto Aprutino for over a century during the 19th Century and has given the name to our fine rosé.
Summertime in Italy brings thoughts of beaches and vacations, long dinners under the stars when rosé is consumed passionately. Cerasuolo can be a sticky term in Italian wine as it has a few different uses. In general, it means “cherry red” in color and can be used to describe the overall color of rosé wine in Abruzzo that resembles freshly cut pomegranate. A fresh and spicy cherry colored rosé, and yes, cherry aromas and flavours, combine with pomegranate and red apple with bright acidity.
Food Pairings: Barbecued pork tenderloin (with a tangy sauce), pasta salads, fruit salads, marinated white meats.

White Wine Selections
Lume Trebbiano d’Abruzzo

Trebbiano is one of the world’s most popular grapes and accounts for a third of all white wine in Italy. Also known as Ugni blanc, the French prefer it for Cognac production.
In this region, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo can lead to producing one of Italy’s most surprising white wines when vinified in hyper-reduction. A bright and refreshing white wine bursting of apples, peaches and citrus notes.
This is a bottle you will want to open again and again and share it with friends!
Food Pairings: prosciutto, soft cheese (goat, camembert, brie) asparagus risotto, spring salads and mixed fruit. Seafood based dishes, sushi and sashimi, summer salads (fruit, leaf or pasta-based salad)
$19.99/bottle incl GST
Tavo Pinot Grigio

Made in Abruzzo with grapes sourced from the Veneto region, the celebrated Pinot Grigio varietal has been known since the Middle Ages in the Burgundy region and derives from a bud mutation of Pinot Noir. The Redmonts oversee an exquisite parcel in the Northeastern region of Veneto, home to Italy’s most popular white wine. The name stems from one of the area’s most important rivers, born at almost 2.000 meters at the foot of the Gran Sasso.
Its silk-like texture is smooth and extremely elegant with delicate tones of melon, orange blossom and mango. And who doesn’t love a good Pinot Grigio? This will be a great summer wine for you to share with your friends on the patio.
Food Pairings: prosciutto, soft cheese (goat, camembert, brie) asparagus risotto, spring salads and mixed fruit.
